Class of 1981! It’s been over four decades since you graduated as proud Quincy Blue Devils, stepping into a world on the cusp of transformation. Now, you have the opportunity to come together again—not just to reflect on your shared past, but to build a lasting legacy.

Through the Class Circles Challenge, your class can raise $10,000 to create a permanent endowed fund—your Class Circle—that will benefit Quincy Public Schools students for generations to come. This fund will provide critical resources for technology access, arts and music education, mental health services, athletics, and college and career readiness—ensuring every Blue Devil has the opportunity to thrive.

It’s a meaningful way to give back to the community that helped launch your journey.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of a classmate, your fund has already begun. But this is just the beginning. Every additional donation strengthens the fund and broadens its impact. Each gift helps build a stronger, more supported school system—where students, teachers, and the entire QPS community are empowered to help young people succeed.

Your time at QHS was filled with unforgettable moments that reflected your class’s heart, creativity, and spirit. The 1980–81 Quincy High School boys' basketball team delivered a season for the ages, finishing 33–0 and winning the Illinois Class AA State Championship—the school’s first since 1934. Led by All-Americans Michael Payne and Bruce Douglas, the team dominated opponents, winning their final four tournament games by an average of 28 points.

Their legendary performance earned them recognition as National High School Champions by Basketball Weekly, ESPN, and The National Sports Services. The team’s excellence remains a powerful source of pride for Quincy to this day.

As you graduated in 1981, the world was changing fast. Ronald Reagan had just taken office. The Iran Hostage Crisis ended, and Space Shuttle Columbia launched into orbit, marking a new era in exploration.

Meanwhile, MTV debuted, changing music forever. Artists like Journey, REO Speedwagon, and Diana Ross filled the airwaves, creating a soundtrack for a generation ready to make its mark.

Amidst it all, the Class of 1981 stood out—for your resilience, unity, and commitment to excellence.

Now, it’s time to channel that same energy and spirit. Reach out to classmates—teammates, artists, student leaders, and lifelong friends—and invite them to support your Class Circle.

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings you closer to completing the Circle. You can track your progress online, celebrating each milestone as you build a legacy of impact.

By supporting your Class Circle, you're investing in the future of Quincy Public Schools and ensuring today’s students benefit from the same opportunities you once did. Help ensure the Class of 1981’s spirit and values continue to thrive for generations of Blue Devils to come.

Join us in building the Class of 1981 Circle—and let our legacy live on.
