Class of 1970! It’s been over five decades since you walked the halls of Quincy High as proud Blue Devils., stepping into a world undergoing significant change. Now, you have the opportunity to come together once again—not just to reminisce about your shared past, but to build a lasting legacy.

Through the Class Circles Challenge, your class can raise $10,000 to establish a permanent endowed fund—your Class Circle—that will support Quincy Public Schools students for generations to come. This fund will provide critical resources for technology access, arts and music education, mental health services, athletics, and college and career readiness—ensuring every Blue Devil has the opportunity to thrive.

It’s a meaningful way to give back to the community that helped launch your journey.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of a classmate, your fund has already begun. But this is just the beginning. Every additional donation strengthens the fund and broadens its impact. Each gift helps build a stronger, more supported school system—where students, teachers, and the entire QPS community are empowered to help young people succeed.

Your senior year was marked by unforgettable moments and significant events that shaped both your class and the world. In 1970, the nation witnessed pivotal events such as the first Earth Day on April 22, emphasizing environmental awareness, and the tragic Kent State shootings on May 4, where four students were killed during an anti-war protest, intensifying national debates over the Vietnam War. The Apollo 13 mission, launched in April, captured global attention with its harrowing journey and safe return, showcasing human resilience and ingenuity.

Culturally, 1970 was a landmark year in music. Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" topped charts worldwide, blending folk and gospel influences. The Beatles released their final album, "Let It Be," marking the end of an era. Other chart-toppers included The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," and Edwin Starr's "War," reflecting the diverse musical landscape of the time.

In cinema, films like Patton, MASH*, and Love Story captivated audiences, offering both critical acclaim and box office success. These films not only entertained but also provided commentary on contemporary societal issues, resonating with audiences nationwide.

At Quincy High, the Class of 1970 left an indelible mark through leadership, creativity, and a deep sense of community. Whether on the field, on stage, in the classroom, or through service, your class demonstrated resilience and innovation, helping to shape the culture and traditions that continue to define the Blue Devil experience today.

Now, it's time to channel that same energy and pride. Reach out to your classmates—teammates, artists, student leaders, and lifelong friends—and invite them to be part of this legacy. Every gift, no matter the amount, brings you closer to completing your Class Circle. Progress can be tracked online, with every milestone celebrated along the way. By supporting your Class Circle, you'll help provide today's students with vital resources: access to technology, arts and music programs, athletics, mental health services, and career development opportunities. Your contributions will ensure that the spirit and opportunities you valued in 1970 continue to thrive.
