Genesis Garden

Genesis Garden's goal is to cultivate hope among our most vulnerable neighbors in west central Illinois.   You can play a crucial role in ensuring your neighbors have housing and support, and area kids have enough to eat this summer! Please give generously.

Housing. Everyone does better when they have safe and stable place to call home.  We strive to support people in quickly regaining permanent housing (rapid re-housing) with care services and resources continuing while they are in their new home.  We help prevent evictions, and when that's impossible, our facilities at Genesis House and Leighty House offer interim/emergency housing.  We extend capacity with motel vouchers.  We strive for low-barrier to entry; we believe housing is fundamental to all other parts of life. 

Relationships are a key part of life and of caring wrap-around services. Many who become homeless, do so because their last remaining important relationship was lost or broken.  Through the Family Dinner Project, we encourage sharing food, fun, and conversations about things that matter.  

Relationships can also be transformational.  Through the Open Table, group of volunteers commit for a year to meet regularly, walk along side and support an individual or family seeking to reach their goals to improve their life. 

And Genesis Garden will be offering Summer Meals for Kids again this summer with Sun Meals To-Go.  

About Genesis Garden.  Genesis Garden is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Macomb, Illinois.  We offer housing support for those in McDonough, Hancock, Henderson, and Warren Counties. If you are in another county, we can refer you to services in that area.  Sun Meals To-Go summer meals for kids will be distributed from a site in Macomb, but are available for any child age 18 or under.
