This year Winchester First Baptist is celebrating its 200th anniversary. The Church was born in a log cabin on Water Tower Hill in 1925.  Originally known as the Sandy Creek Church  which started with fourteen members. Since beginning of its existence in a private home, our church has worshiped, first in a log house erected in the south part of town, then in a house south of the City Hall.  Eventually we sold that building, saved the bell, and bought the present lots.

The Church was built and then in 1865, the towers were added. The beautiful stained glass windows were added in 1908. The largest addition to our original structure was dedicated in 1999.   This has been a great resource to our church providing more room to meet the needs of our congregation and the community at large.

To commemorate our anniversary there will be a special service including guest speakers, music and a luncheon. We are also in the process of completely restoring the stained glass windows in the Sanctuary. Currently the large window in the choir loft and the transom above the front doors have been restored.

The Lord has been good and faithful to us over the years.  We are earnestly seeking His will and guidance as we forge ahead with His work.

Mission

We are committed to building lives for Christ,

By growing spiritually in God’s Word,

By serving the needs of those around us with our whole hearts,

By witnessing the love of Christ in word and deed.
