  • Children who are hungry cannot focus on coursework at school.
  • Adults who are hungry cannot focus on their job or caring for themselves/others.
  • Both may suffer from mental and physical health issues and compounding economic impacts to their life.

Good Food Pantry (GFP) is a program of WIRC-Community Action Agency that fights hunger in McDonough County, Illinois. The program provides nutritious food to people who are struggling through a dignified, welcoming service experience.

GFP is arranged like a grocery store, with shelves filled with frozen meats, vegetables, and fruits, canned goods, breads and grains, pasta, spices, and more, based on what we are able to purchase and what is donated.  Whenever possible we offer allergy-friendly and dairy-free products to meet the diverse nutritional needs of people with dietary restrictions.

Our customers are empowered to choose what food they want to take, just as if they were shopping at a grocery store.

The need is high in our rural communities. GFP fed nearly 10% of McDonough County's population in 2025. Those people are veterans, seniors living on fixed incomes, individuals who are disabled, working families, and others who need lifted up instead of torn down.

Your donation will lift up and empower these individuals who are struggling by allowing our team to purchase food and maintain operations of our food pantry program.

When we lift up our neighbors, we all benefit.

Donate to Good Food Pantry to help people and change lives, today. Thank you.
